The “Master of Business Administration (MBA)”
Program was founded in 1998 in accordance with the joint
project “Partnership to Develop the Master of Business
Administration Program and Faculty capabilities at the
Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, the “Bachelor of
Business Administration (BBA)” Program was founded
in 2001 in accordance with the joint project “Partnership
Program to develop the Bachelor’s of Business Administration
(BBA) Program and Faculty and Administrative Capabilities
at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy.
The Programs between the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy
and the Georgia State University is funded by two grants
from the US State Department.
The
main features of the Programs are:
• The Programs are developed on the basis of credit hours.
• Preparation of masters and bachelors are conducted taking
into consideration the main features of Azerbaijani education
standards and curricula used at GSU.
• The courses are taught by the GSU Professors and Oil
Academy Professors who have received qualifications at
the Robinson College of Business at GSU. These professors
assist in course development and teaching delivery. CSU
Professors are known for their technical expertise and
practical working experience. For most of them business
consulting has become a continuation of their teaching
activities.
• Modern technical facilities are available for the MBA
and BBA Programs. Computer rooms for business simulation
games and self-instruction and a lecture room are equipped
with the latest generation computers, audio-visual equipment
and other modern techniques.
• A library that meets the requirements of USA standards
is available in the framework of MBA Program.
The languages of instruction are English and Azerbaijani
an, and are provided in accordance with established tuition
fees per semester hour and the number of hours.
Class attendance is compulsory. A student who misses 30
% per cent of classes according to determined attendance
requirements in the syllabus, couldn’t get a certificate
on the subject.
The students are graded according to a percentage system.
Courses are graded in percentages on examinations and
letter grades.
Master degree dissertations and bachelors diploma projects
are not required to accomplish the Programs. The Programs
will enable graduates to get diplomas of the Azerbaijan
Republic that are considered only for foreign students.
The preparation of graduates in partnership between 2
Universities is reflected in diplomas.
According to the results of the semester, students with
the highest grades may be sent to continue their studies
to the GSU in Atlanta. Course fees will be paid by the
local Program.
The Azerbaijan State Oil Academy is a public institution
under the direction of the Ministry of Education. The
J.Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University,
provides advice on the development and implementation
of the MBA Program at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy.
Collaboration of these two universities draws upon the
strengths of both institutions to develop managers to
more effectively compete in the market driven global economy,
especially to the benefit of the oil industry in Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijan State Oil Academy was
founded in 1920. Now there are 8 faculties which train
highly qualified specialists for the oil industry. A multistage
educational system is put in place: At the bachelor stage
trains students are trained on 53 specialists and at the
masters 50 specialists. Together with the half education
ASOA trains highly qualified scientific staff, for this
purpose there is post-graduate and doctorate departments
in ASOA as well.
The Georgia State University: It has
9 colleges which prepare competent experts in different
academic fields. The multistage educational system of
GSU bachelors, masters, post-graduate students are trained.
One of the colleges of GSU is J. Mack Robinson College
of Business which was founded in 1913.
Georgia State University’s College of Business was named
in honor, of J. Mack Robinson in September 1998, an Atlanta
banking and insurance executive who has been a supporter
of the college for more than 40 years.
